A ban on plastic bags is now in full effect on LBI, so don’t forget to bring some reusable shopping bags from home when you pack for your LBI vacation.
In an effort to reduce plastic pollution and for a more eco-friendly LBI, Long Beach Township is enforcing a ban on plastic bags. With the exception of bait shops, businesses will no longer be supplying free plastic bags.
What does this mean for you?
Shoppers will have to bring their own reusable bags to stores in the township or pay a small fee for reusable bags.
Tips to Remember Your Reusable Bags
- Keep bags in your car
- Return those bags back to your car as soon as you finish using them
- If you don’t bring them to your car right away, put them next to your front door
- Keep a packable bag on you
- Put “bags” at the top of your shopping list so you remember to take them
